Water safety monitoring

Potable water at point of use rather than only at the mains, because the interesting failures happen in your storage tanks and distribution loops, not upstream of them. Process water used in product or in final rinse. Utility water including cooling towers, chillers and humidification systems.

Ice deserves its own mention, because it is a food ingredient that almost nobody tests, and because ice machines are reliably among the least clean equipment in any plant.

Chemical parameters covering the basic potability set, hardness and scaling indicators for equipment protection, and a heavy metals panel where the supply or the tank material warrants it. Microbiological parameters covering indicator organisms and, on utility systems, Legionella.

Sampling matters as much as testing here. Containers, preservation, hold time and how the tap is run before the sample is drawn all change the answer, so our personnel take the samples rather than leaving it to whoever is available.

The programme is scheduled around your tank cleaning cycle rather than independently of it, so a result before cleaning and a result after cleaning both exist. That pairing is what tells you whether the cleaning interval is right, and it is the evidence an auditor asks for when they see a cleaning schedule with no verification behind it.
